Eli makes comics about Jewish history, politics, self-conception and contemporary life.

 



 

Bio



Eli Valley, Artist in Residence at The Jewish Daily Forward, is a writer and artist whose work has been published in New York Magazine, The Daily Beast, Gawker, Saveur, Ha’aretz and elsewhere. His art has been labeled “ferociously repugnant” by Commentary and “hilarious” by The Comics Journal.  He has given multimedia performances fusing comics with personal narrative in the United States, Europe, Africa and Israel.  A 2012-2013 LABA Fellow, Eli is the author of The Great Jewish Cities of Central and Eastern Europe and is currently finishing his first novel.
